Max Factor Lipfinity Lip Color - Essential Violet

Greetings fellow beauty junkie!

Today's I'll be reviewing the second 'long lasting' lip product I've ever owned.

My first one was a MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolor (this one) back in 2005/2006 and gosh how I disliked it. I thought it was a normal lip gloss, and for the price of one, I get 2 lip glosses! Boy was I wrong. When I applied it, I freaked out because I couldn't remove them and didn't even own an oil-based remover at that time. I think my mom gained a new lip product that day.

So fast forward to 2013, I decided to pick this Max Factor Lipfinity Lip Color in 310 Essential Violet to give it a go.

Instructions:
Step 1: Apply thin layer of gloss to lips, do not glob on to reduce dry time and cracks on lips. Allow formula to dry and do not smack lips together continuously like a fish.

Step 2: Apply clear balm to lips after gloss has dried.

Removal:
Using cotton pad soaked with oil-based remover, leave on lips for 15 seconds and gently rub the long-wear gloss away. Do not rub vigorously. Your lips will thank you.

Left: Just long-wearing gloss / Right: With balm

* My lips were completely clean for the swatch. No balm or lip scrub were used beforehand.

As you can see in the picture above, the long-wear gloss really emphasised the fine lines on my lips. Formula felt stiff on my lips, kinda like after applying a clay mask, ya know?

With the balm on, lines were less visible but didn't help much with the hydration part, as claimed by Max Factor.

Loveee factor: ♥ ♥
Ease of use: ♥ ♥ ♥
Test of time: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

❝ Pros
Formula goes on very smoothly.
Survived a McD lunch. XD

❝ Cons
Emphasises fine lines on lips.
Long-lasting gloss feels stiff on lips.
Takes some time to remove.

TL;DR:
A nice long-wearing color that survived a meal. Felt stiff an uncomfortable for quite some time and is a pain to remove (compared to regular lip gloss/lipstick). It's not a great product nor is it a bad product, so I'd say neutral - buy if you're interested and don't bother if you're not.

Do you use long-wear makeup? Any recommendations?

Cheers!!

  1. I am not overly fond of long wearing lip products like this since most of the time, the formula tend to be very drying and heavy on the lips.

  2. The colour looks really nice!! And I guess it would be useful where you are out the whole day so no need to touch up on it as much.

  3. Yess I know what you mean! I mainly survive on lip balm cause I can't stand having lipstick marks on my cup, fork and worse of all, on my burger. *shudders*
