Salon Melbourne - Beauty Expo Vlog + FOTD

Hello fab cats!

It's been a while since I've uploaded a new video, but on the bright side, I'm done with my masters! I handed in my thesis end of October and I've been enjoying my free time learning and catching up on some good books.

This short vlog's a bit about my experience attending Salon Melbourne and I got my very first media pass! I'm so annoyed that I lost my very first pass, but meh, more to come! Salon Melbourne's a professional beauty trade show and the best part of the event is, discounted beauty products! I set myself a budget and tried very hard to stick to it. XD My haul video will be uploaded very soon.

I have to point out that this video's way overdue, almost 8 months (it was held in March)! But I figured I'll just upload it for your viewing pleasure.

My first YouTube video!

Hey guys! Yes I've been pretty darn MIA for the past... forever a long time and to be honest, I've been switching my concentration on videos instead of pictures since I've been back in Melbourne.

I have yet to pick up the 'Big Canon' and the 'Small Canon' has never left my side since I landed in Melbourne. Yes, I'm very creative with my gadgets' names. If I were to name your new puppy, it would probably be named Dog, or Duck. Quack!

Jibber jabber aside, I'd like to introduce to you my first YouTube video! I do hope you'll enjoy it and I'd appreciate the support!

6 Decades of Valentines with Asos and Grabble

Hello Dolls!

It's been a while since I've actually sat down, gathered my thoughts and wrote a blog post. Life has been pretty hectic with responsibilities and enjoying my last few days in KL before I return to Melbourne!

Also, my creative energy has been running pretty darn low!

When I noticed Grabble and Asos teamed up to host a Valentines competition, I knew this was my chance to inject a little spark into my 'low hp creative self'. All we had to do was create a Valentines wishlist on Grabble and be on our merry way! I decided to bring this up a level by challenging myself to illustrate a few of my wishlist outfits.

At first glance, Grabble reminded me very much of Pinterest but, the best part ever, Grabble notifies us when our wishlist item goes on SALE! Yes, you may squeal now fellow shopaholics.

Instead of creating just one outfit I'd wear on Valentines, I thought to myself 'What would one wear if they were from a different decade?' If Grabble and Asos existed was back then, this is probably what they'd be rocking for Valentines Day!

Shoe Bag Selfie with Reebonz

Hey guys!

A slightly different post today, featuring my feet. Stop perving. Yes, you.

Why do I have floating shoes and bags?

*Reebonz is (well, was.) having an instagram competition called Shoe & Bag Selfie, which the title is pretty self explanatory. Instead of taking pictures of my babies all dolled up and camera ready, I decided to do something different. I tortured them by dropping them to the ground countless times.
Here is a link to my entry on Instagram!

*If you don't know what Reebonz is, check out the end of the blogpost!

A fun fact, the Celine bag above used to belong to my mom 25 years ago and she's passed it on to me! Seriously, after 25 years, the bag is still in near perfect shape and probably after a good bag spa, it would look brand new! I'm seriously impressed by the beautiful material and workmanship.

I have always wanted to try floating photography when I saw my very first one on Flickr almost 10 years ago. I thought it was magical and that image stuck on my mind till today. Never would I have thought I would have the camera knowledge to achieve such a magical shot. I guess my unnecessary fiddling with my camera's manual mode paid off.

I achieve the shot above by jumping and dropping my shoes and bag at the same time. I was lucky enough to have a very patient bf help behind the camera. After a few hundred tries, I finally landed a few presentable shots. Boy was a breathless at the end! If you're on a lookout for a new workout method, I highly recommend trying out floating photography. The amount of jumping and squats to pick up your dropped object is bound to give you fab legs!

My Graduation!

Anddd hello hello!

Just a quick update, my graduation was exactly a week ago! I can finally close my undergrad life chapter.

I was supposed to graduate in 2012 but spaces were limited and I had to opt for a later slot yada yada yada.

But anyway, WOOHOO! *throws confetti*

And here's a small FOTD and OOTD-ish, just for fun!

I opted for really simple eye makeup, a wash of bronze eyeshadow (can't remember exactly what I used), eyeliner on top and bottom lash line, small wispy demi lashes and that's about it!

And here are my favourite elements for the day!

The lace dress was a steal from boohoo.com, the necklace was a gift from my parents (I suspect they were sick of my key pendant (anyone noticed it?) which they got me 2 years ago. Mehhhh...), ombre glitter nails and my faculty's graduation sash!

Coincidently, that was also my favourite colour among all the faculty colours, and also one of my favourite colours!

Mummy personally picked out the bouquet for me! Mainly because she liked them. I'm not surprised. If I were to pick a bouquet for myself, they would definitely consist of blue roses.

Guess what, the tulips are growing! They're way higher than the roses now and they're starting to bloom as well.

Who knew?

Ok back to studying for me! It's exam week. XS

Thanks for taking this short graduation journey with me!

Cheers!!

Best Friend Nails

Hello dolls!

Happy Weekend!

A few months back (more like a zillion years ago), one of my best friend (currently in Tasmania) visited Melbourne and I kinda tied her to a chair and forced her into letting me paint her nails.

The other 2 times when we got to meet, I tied her down to a chair and straightened her beautiful curls. I just have this strange desire to mess with her hair. Well, probably cause she's the only one patient enough to sit through my torture.

2012 marks our 9th year of friendship and she has always encouraged me to improve on my makeup skills. 9 years later, she's still praising me for my makeup skills! It never fails to make me feel special. =D

Come to think of it, she was the very first person I got to practice makeup on!

It was in 2004, and I applied a very simple pastel pink and purple gradient look on her, and I thought it was BEYOND FABULOUS! At that time, I thought it was the most amazing thing I've ever done!

Looking back, I think we've came a long was as friends.

Oh the amount of trouble we got in.

Once, for English lesson, we were required to write an essay about space exploration. We handed in our essay detailing how space explorers would not have to worry about food because they could always pick up chocolate from Mars and Milky Way. We got an A for that essay.

We also skipped English class by crawling out of the back door. Yes. We literally crawled to stay 'undetected' by the teacher.

We were a cheeky bunch.

Ok I'm getting off topic.

Here's what I did on her nails!

I applied nude polish, added some fancy-schmancy white streaks with glitter dots and topped them up with a layer of Chi Chi matte top coat!

I really like how the matte nude nails turned out!

If you've actually read tru everything, thank you for reading! I don't think I've ever shared such a special part of my memory before.

Oh! Also, I urge you to try matte nude nails! They're gorgeous!

It makes me feel like a prissy office manager in them. Probably a CEO.

I better stop typing now.

Lol.

Cheers!!

These Past Weeks I've been...

Well hello there cyber family!!

It has been exactly 20 days since I've posted anything and I seriously feel really guilty about abandoning my blog. 20 days with no love leaves the blog a sad sad.. child?

O.O

What am I saying?!?!

Anyway, just an update. I spent the last uni holiday catching up on 4 years of reading and drawing which I missed. I had no idea how big a part reading and drawing could play in my happiness and general wellbeing.

Basically I've become a couch/bed potato whereby the couch (Mmmmm love thy couch) has a blanket and pillows permanently attached to the couch with my name on them. Reading and drawing don't require much movements as well so my body is as soft as jelly now.

HOW'S THAT FOR A MENTAL IMAGE!

Hohohoho!

So I'm gonna share with you a few colourings I did.

Note: I did not draw the pictures, I just coloured them in cause my drawing isn't as awesome yet. =D

There's something with me and purple + turquoise. I can't get enough of it!!

Does anyone recognise these characters? They're from the manga Dengeki Daisy and it's awesome! Anyone read this before??

I have more art work to share but they're all left half done here and there. I don't know why I don't just concentrate on one only!

Oh wells...

Oh oh!! I'm popping to Hobart tomorrow morning to see a friend. She needs someone to slap some sense into her and I can't do that through the phone. She just called up crying and I was like 'HOLD IT! I'm coming tomorrow!' So yeah... Me is off to Hobart tomorrow.

I should stop talking now. Lalalalalala~

Seriously if you've read everything I've typed, thank you so much! Hopefully I've kept you entertained for the past 3mins or so. =D

Cheers!!

Pastel Candy Girl

Hi!!

I've been pretty MIA from real life and virtual life cause I've discovered something totally awesome!

Digital art on the iPad!

OMG I cannot stress how I miss drawing so so much!

For the past 3-ish years in Australia, I always felt empty. Finally drawing has ignited my passion again and somehow I feel excited to wake up and draw draw draw!

On the hindsight, I've been ignoring the bf cause I'm reading or drawing every waking moment. I have no desire to go out at all and I think it's driving bf nuts.

Oh well... Lol!

Anyway, here's something I drew while learning the ropes of digital art, which is wayyyy more fun than traditional art!

Feeling generous as all, I've also uploaded a some process pictures!

In the spirit of the pastel candy trend, I name her Candace.

She was kind of a copy of Arrow Girls by Peppeisel on deviantart.

I was telling my brother how I really wanted to grasp the ropes of digital art but I had no idea where to start. He gave me a WTF-you-so-stupid-look (I was really scared), leaned over my laptop and typed 'Line Art' on the deviantart search. He then proceeded to look incredibly serious and pointed at the screen and said 'Start here'.

And the rest was history.

I copied the drawing the best I could but I decided to colour her a different way. (The original was really vivid and strong)

Sooo... That's how Candice was created! Heeee...

Cheers!!

11 Questions Tag

Hey guys!!

It has been a while since I've blogged eh?

I really apologise for my absence! Please accept this puppy as an apology.

Soooo... To welcome myself back into blogging world after the long exam break, I'm doing a tag!

I was tagged by darling Queenie and it's been a while since I've done a tag!

The almighty rules:

1. You must post these rules.
2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4. You have to choose 11 people to tag and link them on the post.
5. Go to their page and tell them you have linked him or her.
6. No tag backs.
7. No stuff in the tagging section about 'you are tagged if you are reading this'. You legitimately have to tag 11 people.

♥ ♥

11 Facts about me:

#1. I used to be a cheerleader. Unfortunately, I can't even touch my toes now. Sad...
#2. I wish I could do a back handspring but I'm scared I'd break my neck without the proper guidance.
#3. I was gifted my first MAC cosmetic on my 16th birthday. I loved it so much and I still do!
#4. My 2 best girlfriends and I have not been on the same continent together for the last 4 years. I miss them.
#5. Dad thinks I sleep to much, Mum thinks I talk too much. True, very true.
#6. I have 3 favourite guys by the initial CK in my life.
#7. I have a bear plushie named Toma which travels between Malaysia to Australia with me every year for the past 4 years. Well, usually the bf does the bear carrying in the airport. =D
#8. One day, I'll own a Samoyed and I'll dye the tips of his/her tail!
#9. I want to be more athletic and have ABS!
#10. I have big dreams for myself.

I'll keep the 11th fact for last. It's currently a secret. =D

♥ ♥

Questions from Queenie:

1. Straight hair or curly hair?
I absolutely love all hair textures, but for now I choose straight hair. I used to have curly hair from 2005-2007!

2. Would you rather take pictures of yourself or pictures of things around you?
I love taking pictures of everything I see. I love finding unique things in life which people tend to not notice.

3. If you could catch a grenade for anyone, who would you catch it for?
Frankly, I wouldn't. I'd throw the grenade away (COD style yo! *presses G repeatedly).

4. Favourite food?

Hmmm... I have a soft spot for bread. Particularly baguette. Apparently it runs in the family gene.

5. Would you become vegetarian one day?
Nope. Doubt so. Heh.

6. Do you procrastinate or do it early?
I always always procrastinate but I hope I can curb this habit one day!

7. What scares you?
I'm scared of failing. *shudders*

8. What's your favourite smell/scent?
So many! The smell of freshly baked bread, my mummy's cooking, my bf's perfume, my favourite perfume - Morgan Love and the chlorine smell from the swimming pool.

9. What's your hobby?
Dancing and artsy fartsy stuff. =P

10. Would you rather go to school or work?
Right now, I absolutely dislike my university and I think work would be better.

11. Do you consider your best friend your closest friend?
Yes. I consider myself very lucky to have a small group of friends who supports me through thick and thin.

♥ ♥

Ok, now that the fabulous questions are done, I hope it helps you get to know me a lil bit more! I don't think I show my personality much here, but I hope to show my personality more in the future!

BUT WAIT! What about the 11th fact?

#11. When I was high school, I had a pin button that says 'Rules Were Ment To Be Broken' and I mean it.

So I'm ignoring those rules I posted above and I will not be tagging anyone else. I believe that the tag fairy would understand my decision cause most of the people I wanna tag has already been tagged! =P

Now I'm done with this tag post. Promise! =D

Cheers!!

Jayesslee in Melbourne

I was really lucky to catch Jayesslee last weekend!

I was initially planning on catching Jayesslee in their next concert cause I promised my best friend in Tasmania that we'll attend their concert together.

Thanks to a really good friend, I managed to score some tickets at the very last minute!

I was pleasantly surprised when I found out they were silver tickets when I went to pick the tickets up!

My friend was the lighting engineer and he did a pretty darn awesome job!

His booth was crazy complicated and if it were up to me, I'd probably make a blunder and totally turn on disco lights!

I didn't take much pictures cause it was a no photography event. Probably cause they sang a few songs which weren't released on Youtube yet.

The concert really enlightened me. It motivated me to open up my feelings and that I'm not alone with my pains and negativity.

Listening to them sing was awesome, getting to know their stories behind the songs and videos made it even better. Being really private people, I finally got to see their personalities a lil bit more and also a little more into their family and lives.

Their story about how their mom went through cancer really made me teary eyed. I felt really grateful that my mom was visiting from KL and I could see her when I arrived home that night.

I love my family...

Lol moving on!

Jayesslee tshirts!

See the black tee at the top? It was designed by Janice. Every stroke and line was lovingly drawn by her. =D

I ♥♥ Twins!

Double love, double fun!

I know, cause I have twin brothers.

My 'arm candy' for the night!

I have to explain the totally blinged out plaster.

I accidentally slammed my fingers on the door and seriously the cut was so deep, it still bled after 24 hours.

I was devastated cause it was my gaming finger!!  -.-"

While waiting for my brother to get ready, I decided to paint (yes, PAINT) my plaster with neon yellow nail polish and added glitter. Lol.

No one said plasters had to be boring!

And my day ended with a double cheese burger and medium fries.

Love~~

All in all, I had a great time that night.

I'd definitely go for the next Jayesslee concert.

Four words.

Hey!

Happy Monday!!

So how are the Monday Blues coming along?

I'm gonna have a crazy 2 weeks ahead of me with uni work, so I'm bracing myself for it.

Anyway, let's play a quick game to ease up out Monday Blues k?

SWEET
Haha why yes Mr Willy Wonka! I do love sweets!! =P

PASSIONATE
When I'm passionate about something, I'll take it seriously. You can seriously tell when I'm passionate about something and when I'm not.

PEACEFUL
Hmm... I'm not at total peace with myself yet (when I achieve my goals, I will.) but I used to be really really bad tempered when I was younger. Not anymore tho. Somehow when I learnt to be proud of who I am, I became much more peaceful. That's the truth k! Not those generic sob stories people make up. I even remember the EXACT moment I felt totally proud of who I was.

LOYAL
I guess I'm pretty much a very loyal friend. When I finally accept someone as a good friend, I will sincerely treat them with all the respect and love they deserve. If someone's fake to me and leeches off my happiness, that person is as good as dead. PERIOD.

Well, how odd. What initially started off as a fun game with everyone turned out into a mini heart to heart!

I hope this post has helped you get to know me better, as a blogger and a friend.

So what four words did you get? You don't have to tell me if you don't wanna, but it'll be fun for everyone to share their answers!

Cheers dolls!

Easter Fishing. Pink trouts?

Hey guys!!

I just wanna share some pictures of my fishing trip!

Yes.

I. Went. Fishing.

The bf bugged me for months and months to go on a fishing trip but I was always reluctant.

Well, during the Easter break, the bf finally dragged me, my brothers and a friend for a fishing trip and I was HELLA excited!

The fishing place was an hours drive from the city which wasn't too bad. We shared stories and ate on the way there so time passed really quickly.

I did catch the attention of a very handsome white horse. I wound down the window and screamed hi frantically when we passed a farm. The horse liked me.

Entry fee included bait and fishing rods so basically you just gotta bring yourself. Very convenient!

I look weird. I think I was too excited.

Haha!!

Push?

The beautiful beautiful rainbow trout. My brother and I spent half an hour trailing that fella with our bait.

That fish was really stubborn!!

So finally out of frustration, I picked up the net and tried to scoop that fish up.

Unfortunately, that wasn't allowed but check out the size of that net!!

Bait consisting of salmon eggs.

Seriously, I spent a good 1 minute staring at it cause it looked so cool!!!

The trout I caught. Not the annoying one up there, but a very beautiful one with a pretty pink stripe down the middle.

We then brought the fish we caught to the cleaning area for the fishes to be cleaned and packed.

All in all, it was a great trip. We'll definitely be going on a fishing trip in the near future!

Cheers!!
